From CitySearch: Expect big food, big drinks and big crowds of big-shouldered Chicagoans--and a parade of celebs. The jam-packed bar resounds with open outcry, equal parts drink orders and well-oiled come-ons. The restaurant is wood and windows, green plaid and white tablecloths, red booths and wall-of-fame photos. The menu offers huge portions of classic steakhouse fare--22-ounce bone-in rib eyes, filet mignon, lobster tails and planked whitefish. Sides (for two) include garlicky sauteed spinach and fries. Edit
Ah steak. I can't seem to get enough. At work in NYC we end up having steak with clients and bankers all the time - sometimes too much. But since Chicago is famous for it. Gibson's is loud, brash and big. Big steaks. Big drinks. Even big knives! I had the porterhouse, my wife the small strip, our guests the giant ribeye, and the pescatarian had the biggest lobster tail I've ever seen. Everyone was quite pleased, though no one said it was the best steak of their lives. The service was fun and friendly, the sides were tasty (surprisingly, I recommend the mushrooms) and they sell a nine-inch tall carrot cake that can feed a family of 29. This is a great spot for a group of friends to drink it up and catch up. I even think I liked it better than the Chicago Chop House.
