I have to admit that I have never been on a cruise. I always figured they are for old people and people with kids. That being said, they are clearly incredibly popular. It seems to be the most popular way to get to Alaksa by far.
So tell me, am I missing out on something truly amazing or should I wait until I'm either old or have kids?

It was 2 nights, three days in teh Carribean from Miami to Nassau and back. Hated it. Mediocre food. Tiny room. Even tinier shower (soap up the walls and spin!). All that to sit in port and then go play on the island. Why not get a hotel on the island and go play on the island?
You know what they say about cruisies - the overfed, the barely dead and the newly wed.
All that being said, I would give a LUXURY cruise a try. Just don't think I can afford it. And my wife took a cruise to Alaska and said it was one of the best experiences of her life.
Why do I....keep launching new websites?

We took a 7-day cruise around the islands in Hawaii. It was a great way to get a taste of what Hawaii has to offer without having to pack up and fly from island to island. My biggest pet peeve wasn't the tiny room - it was the heavy sales pitches throughtout the week for cruise-line's land excursions. You can do all those same activities if you rent a car and do it on your own, for a fraction of the price.

It all depends what sort of cruise you go on whether it be on a small ship or a lareg one. Usually, the most expensive cruises with the biggest ships will be of more value and higher quality.
It's a great way to meet new people though. There are many, many different types of people of cruises, it can be a rather social event if you get on well with the people you meet there.
You'll never, never know until you give it a go!

Any reason for this? Did you not like the cruise?

I felt crowded usually--it was often hard to find a spot on the decks to comfortably sit. The ports of call were long enough to make me want to stay, but not long enough to really experience much. I'm not really into gambling, so the casino had little appeal. I thought the meals and room service--a luxury I never otherwise spring for--redeemed the cruise significantly though. I can see why some people enjoy them, but I found the cruise bereft of the cultural experience that I really treasure when travelling.

A friend of mine said recently: cruises are for the overfed, the newly wed or the nearly dead.
That's something you don't easily forget. I've been on a few cruises - to the bahamas and caribbean and one to Alaska. The Alaska trip was fantastic - beautiful sights and an easy way to get from place to place without packing and unpacking repeatedly. I was there 20 years ago but I still hear from people that Alaska by cruise is the way to go.
We went on a cruise last year to the bahamas and frankly, cruising is not for me. The rooms are small and I'd prefer to stay in one place and be on solid ground.
