When you are in Cape Town, if the top of Table Mountain is clear, you should change your plans and immediately go to the top. We were only in Cape Town for 4 or 5 days and the top of Table Mountain was only clear for a part of the very first day. We were thinking that we would save going to the top for another day when we were a bit more rested but it never again cleared off and we never made it to the top. I believe they shut down the cable car to the top if it gets too windy so you can't even go up if you want to if it's not nice.
