Sucelt (maybe it's Succelt?) on 14th Street just west of 7th Avenue has the best empanadas. They are *fried*, not baked, so they are kind of like chimichangas. Crispy, greasy and a bit salty. They only have chicken or meat, but they are really good. The rice and beans there is a little bland, but the cafe con leche is great. Don't even think of asking for a spinach empanada -- they would laugh you out of town.
