Ticino [1] (German and French: Tessin) is the Italian-speaking southern district of Switzerland known for its year-round mild climate, expensive shopping, and stunning views.

Canton Ticino is the italian speaking region in the South of the Alps in Switzerland. Is the sunny side of the country, with his beautiful cities and lakes. The region is a proud Tourism venue, Locarno and Lugano are worldwide know for its beauty. Regions around Locarno are very beautiful :

• Valle Maggia -- beautiful quite valley north of Locarno. Maggia is the tourism center
• Valle Verzasca -- has a pretty stone brige, its dam was in Golden Eye´s James Bond Movie.
• Gambarogno -- pretty riviera area in the opposite site of the Lake

• Ascona -- very beautiful town on the lake, Top tourism venue
• Bellinzona -- World Heritage city featuring three castles
• Biasca -- pretty village in the middle of the Alps
• Locarno-- probably the most beautiful city in Switzerland, no.1 Top tourism venue, on the beautiful Locarno's lake.

In the same city you can ski in winter in Cardada and sunbathe in the summer on the lake at Lido.

• Lugano -- one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland, Top tourism venue, on the beautiful Lugano´s lake, transportation hub and unofficial capital of the area
• Melide -- home of Swissminiatur, a huge collection of Swiss miniatures
• Mendrisio -- has a old part called Borgo that is pretty
• Morcote -- it is one of the pretties village in South Switzerland, on the Lugano´s lake

The only official language in the Canton is Italian

You should have a basic Italian, in the hospitality facilities you can speak German and French. English is not very popular in the area, beacause of the other Swiss national languages that are more important for the region.

The only airport in this canton is the Lugano Airport [2]. However, Ticino can also be reached by flying to other Switzerland airports in Zurich, Basel, Geneva, Berne or from Milan- Malpensa and Bergamo in Italy.

Canton Ticino has an excellent transport service. You can move everywhere by car and train. For train information use the Swiss Railways´ official website www.ffs.ch for periferic village you may take a bus from the closest train station. For foreign car drivers just know Swiss police officiers can charge you the fine also if you live abroad. In the major cities and towns: Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno, Chiasso, Mendrisio there is a excellent bus service inside the city or town.
