Regular train and bus services connect South Queensferry with Edinburgh city centre. First Scotrail [1] train services run from Waverley (2 services per hour) and Haymarket (4 services per hour) stations to Dalmeny station which is a short (10min) walk from the town centre.

First Bus [2] service no. 43 operates from Waterloo Place via Princes Street with 4 services per hour.

Stagecoach Fife [3] service no. 747 operates from Edinburgh Airport to Inverkeithing with a stop at the Forth Road Bridge tolls serving South Queensferry

South Queensferry is located next to the A90. The A8000 connects South Queensferry to the M9 motorway and the A904 is main road from the west.

South Queensferry is only 3 miles/5 km from Edinburgh International Airport [4].

The first sight that most visitors to South Queensferry have is of the two bridges that cross the Firth of Forth between South Queensferry and North Queensferry. The Forth Rail Bridge was completed in 1890 and forms part of the East Coast Mainline from London to Aberdeen. The Forth Road Bridge was completed in 1964 and opened by Queen Elizabeth II.

Other sights within South Queensferry include the historic High Street which includes houses dating from the 15th Century; St Mary's Episcopal Church dating from 1441 and the Hawes Inn, made famous by Robert Louis Stevenson's novel 'Kidnapped'.

South Queensferry is bordered by three stately homes. Dalmeny House [5] to the East; Dundas Castle [6] to the South and Hopetoun House [7] to the West.
