Plockton [1] is a village in the Scottish Highlands of Scotland, popular with yacht and dingy sailors. The village became famous as the setting for the "Hamish MacBeth" tv show.

Several trains a day run on the scenic railway from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh stopping at Plockton.

Plockton is about 7 miles north of Kyle of Lochalsh.

  • There is plenty of opportunity for gentle walking locally and more serious hill walking in Glen Shiel,[2] or on Skye

  • Off the Rails is a pleasant restaurant in the restored station waiting room. Last orders are 8.30pm.
  • The Plockton Hotel [4] serves good bar food (the fish and chips are excellent) and also has a restaurant.
