Machida is served by the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku, and the JR Yokohama Line from Yokohama and Hachioji.

Machida, a major stop on the Odakyu Line, is served by nearly all trains out of Shinjuku. The fastest way is by Rapid Express (快速急行) and Express (急行). These trains depart frequently, every 10 minutes or less, and reach Machida in 30-35 minutes (¥360). Slower Semi-Express (準急) trains take 45 minutes to an hour. Machida is also the first stop on all Limited Express services that run to Hakone. They take about the same time as a Rapid Express, but incur an additional ¥400 surcharge. You do get your own comfortable seat,however, so reserving a seat on this train, especially for the rush hour, can prove to be beneficial for the added charge.

JR Yokohama Line trains make runs to Machida from Hachioji (20-30 minutes, ¥290) and Yokohama (30-40 minutes, ¥380). More frequent trains from Yokohama depart from nearby Higashi-Kanagawa (東神奈川) station.

The Yokohama Line offers the best connection from the Tokaido Shinkansen to Machida via Shin-Yokohama station (15-20 minutes, ¥290).

There is no charge for JR trains with the Japan Rail Pass.

Kanachu and Keio bus companies jointly offer daily services to Machida from Narita and Haneda airports. (There is only one service, depending on the time of the day, you may get Kanachu or Keio service.)

There is a station called Minami-Machida, it is at the edge of Machida-city. You can visit this station by riding train called Tokyu-DenenToshi sen. At Minami-Machida station, we have big outlet mall called Grand Berry Mall. You can buy clothes, shoes and so on at a cheaper price. There are some stores from foreign countries but you can also enjoy Japanese brand's clothes. You can know what is trend in Japan. There are also many restaurants. You can eat Chinese, Vietnam, and Italian and so on.

You can enjoy watching movies as well. We have big movie theater called 109 cinemas. On weekends, this place always crowded with many people and you can see some street performance. Grand Berry Mall is good place not only for shopping but also for walking. On weekends, many people come to show their pets to other people and have fun talking about pets. Neighboring areas are sometime used as location for Japanese TV drama.

It Takes 1 minute from JR Machida Station,3 minuites from Odakyu Machida station. (This from introduction of official web site but it takes more. Each oF them takes 2 more minuites). It clothes, dresses, sundries, small articles, accessories, shoes,restaurant,book store, CD/DVD store, cosmetics, hair salon, beuty salon, print club, side dish and so on. Popular for teenager.

• The Hub, Next to Matsumoto Kiyoshi Drug store near by the Odakyu-Line Exit. An English-pub-style bar. (The Hub is currently being remodeled, reopening is yet unknown)
