Gaziantep, or informally known as Antep, is a city in the western part of South-eastern Anatolia region.
[edit] Get in[edit] By planeGaziantep Airport. 15 km from city center. [edit] Get aroundThe city centre is reasonably compact and walkable. There are plenty of local buses if you prefer and of course taxis for tired feet. [edit] See[edit] DoVisit the castle (if it is open!), explore the bazaars and don't forget the museum. [edit] Buy[edit] EatThe food in Antep is famous, perhaps the best in Turkey. Antep is famous for its pistachios - Antep fistik - and you will see shops selling baklava and other sugar and nut-loaded pastries everywhere. It's also known for its lahmacun (thin Arabic pizza) and cig kofte (raw spicy meat balls). Just follow your nose and you will find many treats here! [edit] DrinkMany of Antep's drinking establishments are basically for picking up women. However there are some nice birahanes where you can enjoy a quiet drink in peace. [edit] Sleep
[edit] Get outThe main Otogar is quite a few kilometers out of town. Take a local bus there (0.95 YTL one-way). Once in the Otogar you will find numerous agents selling tickets to dozens of destinations including Istanbul, Konya, Van, Dogubayzit and Antalya to name a few. Buses leave frequently. Shop around for the best price.
