The Crocodile population in the Cape York peninsula is very high and only rivaled by the Northern Territory to the west. As with all of Australia, venomous snakes are present (Death Adder, King Brown, Taipan), they are however rarely encountered and usually shy away from conflict. In summer months (Dec-May) don't swim in the ocean without a stinger suit. The box jelly fish is next to the Sydney funnel web spider the most toxic animal on the planet and will kill you if not careful. They especially swim in shallow water near beaches. [edit] Get out |
