Dromineer is a village on the shores of Lough Derg, the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland in north County Tipperary. Dromineer is famous for its sailing tradition, and was a major stopping-point on the historically-important Limerick-Dublin waterway route. It is home to the third oldest yacht club in the world, Lough Derg Yacht Club (LDYC). It is also home to the RNLI's Lough Derg Lifeboat Station, the RNLI's newest station and third station on Inland Waters.

• From the Dublin-Limerick N7 route: turn off for Nenagh, and follow signs for Dromineer.
• From Shannon Airport: Head into Limerick, and then continue on the N7 route towards Dublin. After about 30km, you will see signs for Nenagh. Enter Nenagh, then follow signs for Dromineer.
• From Nenagh: follow signs for Dromineer on the R495.
• Free parking is abundant in Dromineer with large open spaces and free car parks.

Dromineer is on Lough Derg, which is on turn on the river Shannon. Dromineer can be accessed via the Shannon Estuary, through Limerick and the lock at Ardnacrusha. At the other end of the Shannon, Dromineer is easily accessed from Lough Allen and Lough Ree.

• Iarnród Éireann operates two trains daily from both Dublin and Limerick to Nenagh, only five minutes from Dromineer.
• Bus Éireann buses run frequently from destinations throughout the country to Nenagh, including hourly busses between Limerick and Dublin, which travel through Nenagh.

• Aer Lingus, Ryanair and other carriers fly to Shannon Airport, which is a forty-five minute drive from Dromineer.

All of Dromineer can be easily explored on foot. All amenities are within a half-kilometre radius of the centre of the village. If you're lazy, take the car: there are no traffic problems.

Puckaun Crafts, handmade in the nearby village of Puckaun, are beautifully made and sold worldwide.

Dromineer has a number of fine restaurants. Gillies in the Dromineer Bay Hotel is well-known for its quality cuisine. The Whiskey Still pub provides daytime and evening bar-food, a large cut above most pub eateries—as demonstrated by its Jameson and Georgina Campbell recommendations. Traditional music is played every Thursday night. The Crow's Nest, also in the Dromineer Bay Hotel, has a lively bar with good food.

Dromineer Bay Hotel is reasonably priced, but Lough Derg House is a competitively priced alternative—a good quality hostel with individual rooms.
